|½||sweet onion, diced|
|2 Tbsp||Pastene Extra Virgin Olive Oil|
|2 Tbsp||Pastene Minced Garlic|
|1 (28 oz) can||Pastene San Marzano D.O.P. Tomatoes|
|3-4 stems||of fresh basil, chopped|
|1 tsp||dried oregano|
|salt and pepper to taste|
In a medium pan, sweat sweet onions in oil for 8 minutes. Add garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook another 2-3 minutes.
Add San Marzano Tomatoes and break up with a spoon. Add basil and oregano, stirring gently until evenly mixed. Let cook for 30 minutes stirring occasionally.
The tomatoes will break down as they cook and result in a thicker, chunkier sauce. If you prefer a smooth sauce, use a hand-puree tool or power blender for desired consistency.
Serve over your favorite Pastene pasta.
