San Marzano D.O.P Tomato Sauce


Serves 4
½sweet onion, diced
2 TbspPastene Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 TbspPastene Minced Garlic
1 (28 oz) canPastene San Marzano D.O.P. Tomatoes
3-4 stemsof fresh basil, chopped
1 tspdried oregano
salt and pepper to taste


  • In a medium pan, sweat sweet onions in oil for 8 minutes. Add garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook another 2-3 minutes.

  • Add San Marzano Tomatoes and break up with a spoon. Add basil and oregano, stirring gently until evenly mixed. Let cook for 30 minutes stirring occasionally.

  • The tomatoes will break down as they cook and result in a thicker, chunkier sauce. If you prefer a smooth sauce, use a hand-puree tool or power blender for desired consistency.

  • Serve over your favorite Pastene pasta.
