Ingredients
Serves 4
½ | vidalia onion, diced | |
2 Tbsp | Pastene Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 Tbsp | Pastene Minced Garlic
salt and pepper to taste
1 | 28 oz can Pastene San Marzano D.O.P. Tomatoes
¼ | cup fresh basil, chopped
1 tsp | dried oregano |
Directions
Prep time: 5-10 minutes | Cook time: 40 minutes
-
On low heat in a medium pan, cook onions in the oil for 8 minutes to draw out their natural sweetness. Add garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook another 2-3 minutes.
-
Add tomatoes and break up with a spoon. Add basil and oregano, stirring gently until evenly mixed. Let cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
-
The tomatoes will break down as they cook and result in a thicker, chunkier sauce. If you prefer a smooth sauce, use a hand-puree tool or power blender for desired consistency.
-
Serve over your favorite Pastene pasta.
