    The “American Institute for Cancer Research” (AICR) has reported “Lycopene, a powerful antioxidant, together with a group of related compounds collectively called the “red family,” has displayed anti-cancer potential in a variety of laboratory studies. In the laboratory, tomato components have stopped the proliferation of several other cancer cells types, including breast, lung, and endometrial.”

    Lycopene is found in abundance in processed red tomatoes. The USDA reports: “Although the evidence is not conclusive, lycopene in fruits and vegetables, including tomatoes and tomato products, may reduce the risk of prostate cancer.” 1. Research shows that lycopene in processed canned tomatoes can be absorbed more efficiently by the body. The chemical form of lycopene found in tomatoes is converted by the temperature changes involved in processing to make it more easily absorbed by the body. Pastene canned tomatoes are a tremendous source of this carotenoid.

    Other Pastene products that contain lycopene are: All tomato products, Sweet Red peppers, Roasted Red peppers, all red pasta sauces, Crushed Red Peppers, Sliced Hot peppers in oil, and all Sun-Dried tomato products.
