Tonno Tomato Sauce


Serves 4
4 Tbsp Pastene Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 medium onion, chopped
2 tsp Pastene Minced Garlic
1 28 oz can Pastene Kitchen Ready Chunky Style Tomatoes
¼ tsp dried oregano
salt and pepper to taste
5 oz Pastene Tonno in Olive Oil, drained and flaked
¼ cup Pastene Sliced Ripe Olives, with some juice
1 Tbsp Pastene Capers, with some juice
1 lemon, juiced


Prep time: 5 minutes | Cook time: 15-20 minutes

  • On medium heat in a heavy saucepan, add oil and cook onion and garlic until tender.
  • Add tomatoes with juice, oregano, salt, and pepper to taste. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, about 10 minutes.
  • Add the tuna, olives, capers, and lemon juice and simmer for 5-10 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  • Serve over the pasta of your choice and top with parmesan.
